Endorsements for Dr. Burton's Training
This is an exciting opportunity to learn from one of the premier international trainers. He is the rare clinician who is as steeped in research methodology and literature as he is in sound clinical practice. He interweaves these critical elements effortlessly allowing him to inform clinical training with evidence-based practice and weigh the impact of research-based practices on the realities of real children and youth. Along with his knowledge, comes a wonderful sense of humor and a deep appreciation for the complexities of different types of youth, an essential element in aligning interventions with client realities. - Dr. Stephen Bengis, Executive Director and Founder, NEARI, Holyoke, MA

Six years ago I attended my first training with David Burton. I had been working with children with sexually problematic behaviors for many years. I thought I really understood the behaviors and felt confident in my work. The training was on assessing for risk, inventories learned, theories applied. I anticipated I would learn some, imagined that I would leave a bit wiser but not with a plethora of tools to make my practice that much better. I was wrong. David has the unique ability to draw from those he works with not only a higher level critical thinking but most importantly the joy of learning that in the end makes each of us feel more powerful, better able to think with precision; to feel our own capacity to do good work. And from that, what do we give to the youth we work with? We give them more, we listen better and we share our resilience with them. David is able to project joy in our work, he shares with his students his “tricks” in understanding the complexity of each child, adolescent we work with, he teaches us to be better. From that first training I have attended many more; I have had the opportunity to consult with David, to be a part of hiring him to train our staff. I have done this with the conviction that his work, his ability to be not only pragmatic but also dynamic in his thinking, will bring new insight and strength to our work, he has the ability to anticipate the many possibilities/complexities we will encounter. David does all this with humor, with a stylistic discipline, with brilliant and ever precious insight and knowledge into our work. David honors our field with dignity, and he demands that of those he educates by virtue of his dedication. He will long be my first choice, to train my staff and for me to reach my personal goals of guiding the clinical work at Stetson School. - Sally Gulmi, MS Clinical Director Stetson School, Barre, MA
